Abstract
Clonorchis sinensis survives for many years in human bile ducts, and in the absence of complicating conditions dead flukes rarely remain in the ducts for long while the host is alive. In man, clinical jaundice is rare in uncomplicated clonorchiasis, but slight hyperbilirubinemia is common, and focal retention of bile may occur without elevation of the serum level. Common bile duct obstruction due to clonorchis sinensis has been reported in the past.
The case was 41 years old male, numerous living worm having found in dilated common bile duct and gall bladder, no stones, and performed cholecystectomy and T-tube drainage to relieve common bile duct obstruction.
